Dermal fillers are one of the most popular non-surgical treatments in New Zealand. Done well, they restore volume and balance to the face without looking "done". Here is what to expect.
What are dermal fillers?
Most modern fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the skin. It holds moisture and adds volume and structure where it is placed. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also be dissolved if needed, which adds an extra layer of safety.
Common areas treated
Lips – subtle shape, definition and hydration
Cheeks – restoring lost volume and lift
Chin and jawline – improving profile and balance
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines – softening deeper lines
Non-surgical nose reshaping – smoothing small bumps
Your consultation
We start by listening to what bothers you and looking at your whole face, not just one feature. We discuss your medical history, realistic results, risks and cost before any treatment goes ahead.
On the day
Treatment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most fillers contain local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable. You may have mild swelling, tenderness or bruising for a few days.
Aftercare tips
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 hours
Do not massage the area unless advised
Contact the clinic straight away if you notice unusual pain or skin colour changes
How long do results last?
Depending on the area and product, results typically last 6 to 18 months.
